A couple of weeks ago we got a dvd in our paper.  I thought, “I’ll have to watch that sometime.”

Tried last week, but the DVD player was giving me trouble…but today, I got it to work.

This is really scary.  I mean FRIGHTENING people!!!   I am still watching it now…and they are comparing the radical islamic people to hitler.  VERY similar…

They are teaching children to be suicide warriors!!!!  They are teaching them to die for this cause.  They are sending them out to die with bombs tied on them.  What are these people doing to their own children?????

One lady said, on the movie, about the way the USA and other countries are not contronting this issue:  We are destroying our country with our political correctness.”

It gives you such a helpless feeling.

If you go to the website…there are things you can do to help.

Please get the DVD and watch it.  Wake up!

This is serious.  AND ANY canidate…EPSECIALLY if he is running to be the president… that is even associated with this radical religion, even as a child!!!  SHOULD be investigated and questioned about it!!!!!!

Oh please don’t listen to this radical bulls”t. this is a scare tactic. None of this is new…. it’s all information that has been public knowledge for years… we’ve known about the suicide bombers and training children to fight for years… now it’s being used to turn you against a political candidate that is as horrified by these practices as any of us decent Americans are. Stop…don’t pass on the bs to turn people against a decent man. You are falling victim to a horrid practice of smear politics.

  2. chrisie @ October 17th, 2008

The dvd doesn’t say anything about Obama…
    that was my opinion.

After watching it…and learning of Obama’s associations with Muslims.

He has had some interesting associations with some controversial people and groups of people.
Considering that there are people that WANT to kill Americans and take over the world, we should be cautious…and err on the side of being too cautious as opposed to not cautious enough…

  3. sandy @ October 17th, 2008

I’ve had associations with Muslims too. A whole community of them live in the Seattle area. That doesn’t make me or any of them radical and dangerous. They are Americans and believe in God just like we do. There are Americans that want to kill Americans too….To err on the side of being too cautious is dangerous. It is asking for disaster.

  4. walk4health @ October 17th, 2008

I agree with Sandy. The VAST, VAST majority of Muslims are absolutely wonderful human beings who want exactly what you and I do — to raise their families and live their lives in peace.

This is just a vicious SMEAR campaign designed to frighten uninformed voters– the ones who are too lazy to “do the work” to research the candidates and their positions on important issues.

  5. chrisie @ October 17th, 2008

to not be cautious enough is worse…
Do you remember what happened with Hitler? No one ever thought he would kill all those Jews…but he did.
And these radical muslims are killing people and seek to take over the world.
On the DVD…large groups of them were chanting…
Death to America!!! They see it as a Holy War.
It is something we should be aware of…that is all I am saying.
    Clarion Fund produced the film.http://clarionfund.org/

I want no part of it! Read my first blog again. It’s nothing new…. just the same old sh’t replayed, trying to scare people..Don’t spread it Chrisie. I wish you would delete this blog. That’s all I have to say about it.

  8. chrisie @ October 17th, 2008

the movie starts with a disclaimer that reads: “This is a film about radical Islamic terror. A dangerous ideology, fueled by religious hatred. It’s important to remember most Muslims are peaceful and do not support terror. This is not a film about them. This is a film about a radical worldview, and the threat it poses to us all, Muslim and non-Muslim alike.”

  9. Camachosangel @ October 17th, 2008

This is a hot topic and one that doesn’t relate too much with weight loss. Over the years propaganda has been used to scare people away from others. Whether it be skin tone, affiliation, or religious practice there has been a need to discriminate and ridicule others. Nothing in the DVD mentioned above is new info. It’s sad and scarey but radicals are everywhere. There are Americans that have killed to keep within their beliefs of one race being the pure race. There are gang idiots who kill over territory that does not belong to them. There are so many people becoming mean spirited because of attacks within our Presidential campaign offices. Though the information was posted with good intentions;, I believe it can be offensive and hurt the feelings of some of our Buddy Slimmers that may be Muslim or have close friends who may be Muslim. Every race, every culture, every ethnic group and even some religious groups has some history to be ashamed of. We cannot use the history to become radical ourselves and cast judgement or condemnation upon others.

  10. Amber @ October 17th, 2008

Intersting topic. I would like to learn more. Will look into it.

  11. sandy @ October 17th, 2008

Chereese, you always know the right words. It is just so much propaganda, I hate it. It doesn’t belong here. Please don’t take this personally Chrisie, I love you, but I just think this is wrong and shouldn’t be posted.

  12. chrisie @ October 17th, 2008

    I really meant no harm…
    it is truly frightening…
and sometimes I think we don’t do anything because we are afraid of hurting people. That was what that woman said, we are destroying our country because of political correctness. The woman that said it was a widow of a muslim martyr…and she is speaking out about it.

  13. Camachosangel @ October 17th, 2008

Chrisie, your heart is good. I can only imagine how scarey the DVD is to watch. Some DVD’s I have refused to watch myself because they bring up such raw and hurtful emotions. I own Mississippi Burning and it’s still in the original unwrapped form because I can’t bring myself to view it. I bought it over 10 years ago.
My father is Jewish one hundred percent. I keep away from movies that emphasize the pain, hatred and killing of others that the jews have suffered. I don’t so much ignore it, as I choose to keep my mind focused on God and truly believe HE can fix this world to it’s rightful form as He intended.
Precious One, I read my bible and focus on HIS word to avoid the rash of feelings I get from watching the news, hearing about the War and the genocide so often occurring in other countries. I’m scared Chrisie. I’m scared but I have to believe in God or believe in nothing at all.
I choose to believe that one day you, me, Sandy, all our Buddy Slimmers and all HIS children will be able to reclaim the world as God intended for it to be.
In the meantime, we just continue to pray for our Nation, our World, and the entire Human Race.
I adore you Precious and again you have a beautiful heart to me.

Regular muslims are normal people just like all of us, and are not to be feared, it is true. But the threat of radical islamists is a real one and people who say otherwise are ignorant and a danger to us all. It is widely known that satan derives the most power and pleasure in the fact that many people don’t believe in him. Ignorance is bliss, or so they say, but it is also a very dangerous tool that terrorists use against us.

I don’t agree with propaganda and mudslinging where politics are concerned. But terrorism and those who wield it are a very real threat to us all. Sadly, the vast majority of terrorists are islamist extremists. That is a fact, it is not an opinion of one or an opinion of many…just straight up fact. It’s scary stuff. It is my sincerest hope that whoever becomes president, whether it be Obama or McCain, will tackle this issue head on rather then hide behind political correctness, as I believe they will.

In the mean time, you’ve gotta take these things with a grain of salt and ask yourself where the truth lies in it all. It really is scary stuff, but we’ve got to keep our wits about us, you know?

Ahh so much to say, but I am going to keep my fingers contained.

My only question for Chrisie is, how did you keep this blog up at the top of the blog list all day?

  18. chrisie @ October 17th, 2008

love you too…and not trying to hurt anyone–seriously thought it might help someone if I shared it!

One time a lady here on BS sent me a 4 page email telling me how intolerant, ignorant…etc. I was just because I told her I did not believe her God and my God were the same. She was muslim. I did not retaliate, or blog about her…I just prayed for her to know that God is Love…not hatred.

Jennifer…I don’t know…can someone tell me why my blogs get stuck up there?

I just posted it a couple of hours ago…???

  19. chrisie @ October 17th, 2008

Catrina…you really said it well! Thank you!

  20. Camachosangel @ October 17th, 2008

Not sure how your blog stayed in the number one spot for as long as it has but I’m glad it did. Let me tell you why. This whole conversation reflects the freedom we have as Americans to express our opinions respectfully and with consideration.
In all respects only in America do we have such a powerful freedom of speech, right to express opinions and etc.
Yep, maybe it’s a fluke but for whatever reason this topic stayed at the number one level, it was meant to be.
Catrina you are my heart and I’ve probaly said it a million times but I owe your hubby and all military men and women my lifelong thanks for the freedom I enjoy today. Semper Fi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! “OohRah!”).

  21. megan @ October 17th, 2008

It’s sad that people eat up this spoon-fed propoganda. I decided to do a bit more research on the film and here’s what I found:

    1) The leaders of the organization who made the film (called the Clarion Fund) refuse to identify themselves.

    2) 28-million copies of the movie were distributed and the group refuses to reveal the sources of its funding. “We don’t have to say who its directors are or give financial information until Nov. 6, 2008,” said Clarion spokesperson Gregory Ross. (The day before the presidential election.)

    3) This film was made in 2005. It was just distributed in 2008… less than 2 months before the election… and only to 14 swing states.

    4) One smart newspaper, The Greensboro New & Record in North Carolina, refused to take money or distribute the DVD.

    5) Barack Obama is a Christian, not a Muslim.

Chrisie, I really hope you’ll learn more facts, read some articles, and learn more about the Muslim religion. There are wackos everywhere- and they come in every religion, color, gender, sex and culture. This movie is a scare tactic.

  22. megan @ October 17th, 2008

1 more thing: The Clarion Fund is tied to a Jewish group, hence the reason for the all Hitler ties.

  23. loveitlite @ October 17th, 2008

    Chrisie,

I have two points I would like to make, both with respect to you for having the courage to speak your fears in order to open this dialogue. And I would like to add…that fears like these are the kind that can lead a person to overeat so, I don’t see how that couldn’t relate to weightloss.

So FIrst, last year, my church invited our city’s Muslim lead to speak with us and educate us regarding the religion they practice and the many confusing ideas that we see in the media. Even these Muslim leaders denounce the RADICAL actions of Fundimentalist Muslims.

To take your example and put it in terms that are perhaps more familiar….To say that Obama should be under scrutiny for having been associated with Muslims is similar to saying that your child or my child who grew up down the street from and maybe even went to school and played with families who are associated with the KKK (a RADICAL Christian group) or Skin Heads (another RADICAL Christian group) should be put under scrutiny.

You said you wanted the woman who was Muslim to know a God of Love…and yet you seem to be judging someone for their own beliefs out of your own fear. I am having a hard time understanding how those things go together. I would think that practicing trying to love and understand someone would be more in line with a religion of love.

Second, a story that will hopefully balance the movie that you have watched…so at least you may have another point of view. And even though I can’t show you pictures with music and all the fanciness of media, know this is my truth and I lived it..it is real.

About a week after 9-11, I drove 27 hours straight to Washington D.C. from Texas to go to a prayer vigil for peace. People from all over the world and from many different religions came together to pay for world peace. We had the honor of praying for peace in the traditions of these many people. One of the most moving parts of the whole weekend was when a group of Muslims joined us in asking for peace between all people and all nations. I will never forget this. Of course there were no news cameras there and no one spending money to produce a senstionalized movie for the internet, it was just one good hearted person kneeling in prayer next to another. And whether or not that other person was talking to the same God that I was…and even if they were only talking to themselves…because let’s say hypothetically their God did not exist, the intention was shared. That is a blessing. And that is more real than this movie.

Fear is easy to see, love takes looking for sometimes. I hope that you find here on this special blog, reasons to look past the fear and into the hearts and eyes of humans that want peace as much as you… maybe even move…because their families and their culture, their home and their land are being torn up.

    Thank you for the dialogue.

    With Respect,
    Rae

  24. Juliette @ October 17th, 2008

I am familiar with the content of the DVD. I agree wholeheartedly with comments by Rae, Megan and a couple of others.

This DVD is typical of the half truths, lies and misguided beliefs that perpetuate the many unfair myths surrounding Muslims. I am not Muslim, but I am open minded and intelligent enough to take a broader view based on real information, not religious or any other type of propaganda.

I live in London, which is a multi-cultural city, with many mosques and Muslims, and I can tell you for a fact that only a very tiny minority of Muslims are radicals. The rest are totally against it. TOTALLY AGAINST RADICALISATION.

Surely BuddySlimmers are intelligent enough to realise that this DVD is designed to further an anti-Muslim stance and manipulate their votes.

Muslims do not make up the majority of the world’s terrorists. That is patently untrue. I know this because my of my husband’s work. I can’t disclose more because his job is classified, but I have a better understanding than most about this topic. It’s just that this being reported more, particularly in the US. It is true that more people are being recruited to the more radical Muslim factions because of the perceived injustices on the Muslim world, with Abu Ghraib and Guantamo Bay have played a major part in this.

Fear and ignorance drives us to do things that we can regret later. If a family moved into your street who was Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Buddist, Hindu, Shikh or any other belief, would you treat them with fear because of their religion? Surely not. Religious intolerance based on ignorance is not only pathetic; it is ultimately very dangerous.

I am genuinely shocked at what some people, especially those who call themselves Christians, will do to incite religious hatred.

  25. chubbymomma74 @ October 17th, 2008

If you don’t like the blog, then don’t read it. That’s another choice we have, we don’t have to agree with everyone. Thank God I’m American.

  26. motherof9 @ October 17th, 2008

I have a Muslim aquaintance - -i say “aquaintance” and not “friend” only b/c they won’t allow us to get closer than that right now — the wife is a converted Catholic and seems unsure how she is supposed to act now that she is Muslim. The husband doesn’t like talking to women not his family in trying to be respectful.
Soooo, i do not have any ill feelings towards one race or another (i grew up as a minority, yes, me a white girl…) and i have no ill feelings towards one religion or another — again grew up a minority in my beliefs. However, i do believe it is necessary for us to be watchful and careful — whether it is radical Christians, radical Muslims, or gang members… we need to be aware of our surroundings and keep our children safe while praying for our country and world.

  27. Jennifer @ October 17th, 2008

You know Chrisie, I feel the fear too sometimes. But with the 2 potentials I see only one fear. The presidential term (5ish years?) really ages a person and McCain is old and has had health problems. The only fearful thing is that Palin is next in line. How can one ever know, but what I see and hear from the outside is that Obama is Hope for the USA and the world.

As for the movie…. Propaganda! There is some truth wrapped in BS intention, but you deserve to live this life with a smile on your face. What movie are you watching this weekend you help you laugh your pants off??? ;)

    Have a good weekend.
