I think I survived…won’t know until tomorrow:)

So today was day one of the personal training adventure. There was a little snafoo at the beginning. I had sent her an email saying I couldn’t train on Friday, cause I was called into work…and she had misread the email…and thought I wasn’t coming today. She was working out when I got there. I had to wait for her to get changed to train with me…that put us behind 10 mins…but she stopped on time at 11:30 (making a mental note of it). She owes me 10 mins…
On Friday, the only time I can train is 7:30 AM, cause I gotta be at work at 9:00am (and have plans already afterwards)…so I am going to attempt to make it! Told her I am NOT a morning person…she said, “we can all make excuses, can’t we?” I said…yep…but I am telling you the truth…I am not a morning person…seriously…not an excuse…just the truth.
Went well…lots of leg and butt work. No upper body at all… Squatting, lunging, stepping…more squatting, lunging and stepping…you get the idea. She doesn’t like to use machines… Afterwards I was chatting with her and my butt started cramping up…THAT is a new thing. But overall it was good. She said I will hurt tomorrow and the next day.
She sent me to do cardio afterwards for only 20 mins…interval and on 2 separate machines.
AND that was it. I was joking with her afterwards and said, “You made me sweat.” One of her trainers heard me and just started laughing…he thought that was too funny.
The thought is coming…is it worth it? All that mulah…but…I am committed for one month, and then I will see from there.
She is training for her first 1/2 marathon…but IS doing her first 5k next month…(someone had mentioned that she should have done one before if she is a trainer.)
She asked me if I had eaten before I came…and I had. She said if I felt faint, saw spots…then my blood sugar was low–and I was about to pass out. I would need to eat before I come…simple sugars. (are you reading this Dawn?)
Anyway…all is good, the rest of the day is mine. I am going to relax…it is raining outside, flash flood warnings…remnants of Fay…so I might grab a book and finish it…still working on the Shack…almost done!
Have a great day!
woohoo well done chrisie, great idea to give it a month’s trial cuz even if you decide not to carry on you have had a great month of exercise! sounds like you have a great attitude towards everything so keep up the positivity! xxx
p.s. missed you toooooo!
It was me who said I wouldn’t like a trainer who’d never run 3 miles before lol. It just seems so odd to me….
Trainers are very much lunge happy people because it works the largest muscle grouping in our bodies, it does get the heart rate going quite nicely. You’ll probably hurt more on the 2nd day after the workout, that’s when it always seemed to get me in the beginning anyway lol. I very rarely get sore any more from working out though because I workout 2-3 times a day and keep it all loose with cool downs and whatnot.
My husband and I both loved “The Shack” so much! I’m now reading it to our older three kids on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We read and then discuss it. What an awesome book!
Take care & God bless!

omg…I am hurting already! It hurts to squat, bend, etc. I tried to put on my shorts and major ouchies…
Can’t wait until tomorrow:)
Hubby and I are reading the book together…so we have to both be in the mood…and have time, but he said now is good…so here we go!
That sounds so exciting…I want to afford a trainer, but Shaun T is helping me out a little bit with the HIP HOP ABS…I am sure glad you are making that commitment
I like the idea of a trainer but I dont know that I could handle one. lol Hang in there.
Awesome job!! Do you have access to a sauna? That would help the soreness.

Chrisie, it will hurt more tomorrow. My trainer said it hurts more next day after exercise.
As for being 10 minutes late. Please, and you can confirm with Dorey, it is very important to address it right away. To point that your session began 10 minutes late and how she plans to compensate lost time. Would she train you 70 minutes next time?
Again, it is VERY important to send a message to the trainer that your time is valuable, that you pay for exactly 60 minutes of training, and that your relationship is professional. Meaning arriving on time and finishing on time.
You will certainly feel in next day and maybe day after. Your body will adjust and once your stronger and stamina increases you won’t feel soreness unless you increase the intensity, change routine and weights.
But don’t you love the soreness? I do. It’s your body’s way of thanking you for doing it a body good.

Chrisie, what can I say? As a runner (I still consider myself one), I asked myself the same question….why would a personal trainer NOT do a 5K? Not only that, but as a personal trainer, she shouldn’t even HAVE to train to run a 5K, it should be a piece of cake to him/her. Here’s the bottom line, a 5K is the equivalent of 3.2 miles and ANYONE in my humble opinion can do 3.2 miles. I bet if you go to the mall and circle the darn thing a few times when you are window shopping, you can cover 3.2 miles!! I didn’t say anything to you before because I didn’t want to discourage you, THAT and I also don’t like to pass judgement on someone I know very little about, MAYBE, just MAYBE she was a body builder, you didn’t really say what her area of expertise was! Ok…so those are my 2 cents.
How do you feel? Do you like her and she working you out PAINFULLY? If so, then I think she’s doing her job, but ONLY YOU can know for sure!!
Now before I leave, I wanted to thank you for the suggestion you left on my last blog…I am going to check out the program now. I guess what I need to do is COMMON SENSE stuff—eat less and in moderation, choose better foods AND move my body!! Thanks for the support you have given me since I got back on the site—it means the world to me!
way to go, you! hope that you aren’t too sore tomorrow. pineapple has great healing properties for after workouts plus make sure you get loads of water. that blood sugar thing is so true, too, my hubby gets it bad. i like that you are giving it a month. just check in with yourself along the way to see how you really feel - we can find excuses like moolah to get in the way of our success as well. then there is the reality of tight moolah. perhaps it can come from some food budget
happy hamstrings!
So darn proud of you! When you go there just keep an open mind. You will know if she is the right person to train you or not over a period of time. If you decide not to have a personal trainer after the month is over you will walk away with many different exercises you can do on your own so nothing is lost…well…hopefully some weight will be lost…heheh…but nothing else.:)
My trainer’s goal is have me sore after every workout. She keeps pushing me harder and longer each time I go. Just know it never gets easier…it only gets harder. You are one tough cookie and can do it. You sign up for 5ks…did you tell your trainer that you did 2 5ks already?
Maybe trainer would like to run the one you signed up for next? Just a thought.
Keep up the awesome work. I’ll talk to you soon.
You guys give the very best advice! Thank you for all your kind, and wise comments…
I will address her being late…and I hope you are right and the weight does come off.
I will try the pineapple too…I have some pina colada juice I have been wanting to make a smoothie with.
Thanks again guys…you are the best…and you don’t know how much it means to me to have you all around…just a couple of keystrokes away!
Woo Hoo! You go, girl! You can do it!

Big HUGS!
