Do you know what the number 8 means?

I love symbolism, and according to the Bible, it is the number for new beginnings.

  • Eight: Circumcision of the flesh; liberty; salvation; new beginning; resurrection life; die to self. (Gen. 17: 12; 1 Peter 3: 20-21; 2 Chron. 29: 17; 2 Peter 1: 14)

Michael Phelps just won 8 gold medals, and the olympics started on 8/8/08…

  • Gold: The riches of the glory of God; enduring capacity of the believer as overcomer; unchanging holiness; wisdom; glory; righteousness; glorifying self when used as adornment or as idol worship. (Lam. 4: 2; Ps. 19: 10, 119: 72; Rev. 3: 18, 21: 18. 21; 1 Cor. 3: 12; Ex. 20: 23; Is. 40: 19; Job 22: 25)

Kinda cool if you think about it, and believe that God speaks to us.  I think He does and is doing something new.

I know for me, today is a new day.  I start my new diet today, and I am resolved that it will work this time.

My hubby, who hasn’t had a job since 2007, just left for his first day at his new job–and he left on time!!!!!   That is a new day!

Isn’t that the great thing about new things.  New jobs, new diets, new days…they give you hope that change will come!

These scriptures are coming to me.  “God’s mercies are new everyday”  and “if anyone is in Christ, he is a NEW creation.  Behold, all things are new!!!!”

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Have a GREAT 2008 NEW DAY…and remember God Loves you!

just a side note…You know I love butterflies…well, did you know that chrysalis comes from the greek word for gold????

I’ve been a fan of his for 3 days now. He is my inspiration. He does not let the media GET to him. He’s got very good discipline and works out 365 DAYS PER YEAR!

Alot of guys think he should be on a shirt, but I think they are just plain jealous.

The number eight has always, always, always been my lucky number. For as long as I can remember it has just been “my number”. Then, my husband (boyfriend at the time) went to boot camp, his first day was 8/8/88 and I found out that the Chinese consider the number a lucky one and it’s supposed to portend prosperity. I didn’t want him to join the Marine Corps because it meant he would be taken away from me often (deployments), so I became sarcastic over 8 being my “lucky” number. I actually felt jaded for a long time about it…had the “yeah, right” attitude. But, looking back on it now, it’s funny how things work because the Marine Corps has been VERY good to us and my husband has been extraordinarily prosperous in it.

Taking each new day at it’s value is a good way to conquer our battles! Beautiful blog today! :o)
