The scale is moving down!!!

Well…Today the scale is down 2 since the beginning of the week.  But I will not celebrate until I see it go down 4 more to 234.  That would put me below the lowest weight I have gotten to, since I started.

Maybe the training is helping?   I have been monitoring my food and I have been eating more fat than I am supposed to this week.  Pretty good with the cals…but way up on the fat.

It is hard to eat more protein and stay in the fat range.  Well, tomorrow starts a new week…so I can work on it again.

I really want to try to get some classes in.  I read that the BodyPump class is the best fat burning class ever:

 http://www.lesmills.com/southeast/en/members/bodypump/bodypump-group-fitness-program.aspx

  • BODYPUMP™ is the original barbell class that strengthens your entire body. This 60-minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, awesome instructors and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you came for – and fast!
  • a rapid fat-burning class…verified as providing the fastest fat loss of any fitness class!!!
  • Burn up to 600 calories per class for fat loss
  • Improve your strength
  • Improve your general fitness
  • Shape and tone your muscles
  • Improve your bone density (helps ward off osteoporosis)
  • Gives you a sense of achievement

And it is cheaper than a personal trainer–it is FREE with my membership!  So I need to get my calendar out, and the class schedule…and just make some appointments with myself–and then keep them!  Ok here are the times and days they are available that work with my schedule

Monday at 10:00 am

Weds at 9:30 am (training at 11:00am so not sure)

Friday at 10:30 am (training at 12:30)

Sat at 10:00 am (definitely do this one)

YEAH!  I have put them on my calendar!

There are some other classes that look interesting…bodyflow, bodycombat and bodyattack…

but I will just focus on this one for now:)

So…my goals for this week:

  • Eat better…less fat!
  • Plan ahead for exercise and food…then stick to the plan
  • Take some body pump classes
  • Do more cardio
  • Log my food right away…so I won’t forget what I ate later
  • Get more sleep!

Hope the scale starts to move more this week!!!

Have a great Labor day–and for all the people in the path of the Hurricane…you are in my prayers!

Going to the gym…needin’ some CAR-D-OH!!!!

The trainer is a blessing…but I am missing my cardio.  Spending time with her is making me feel like I am not doing enough cardio…

SO I am going to go now and work out VERY hard!  A friend from work called and she lives right beside the gym…so she is going to meet me there.  She recently lost 50lbs…

She had a full blood work done by a naturopath doctor.
Turned out she was borderline diabetic, and needed t-3 for her thyroid…and she was gluten intolerant…etc.  The Dr. put her on a special diet and the weight just came off.  Wondering if I might need something like that?  Oh well…I have my new shoes on, and I am heading out the door.

Hope you all have a great day and remember to keep LA in your prayers!

Could NOT sleep…but still got up at 7am to train with trainer(go me:)…we had a talk too

Well, I couldn’t sleep last night…but this morning I crawled out of bed ANYWAY, took a quick shower…then went to the gym…

We started 5 mins late…she has to check me in when I get there.  So I asked her, are we going to make up the time we miss?…and she said yes.  So I asked her about the 10 mins the other day, and she said, oh yeah…we will make it up no prob.  So we did today.

I am learning that I need to get there about 10mins early to warm up and get checked in so we can start right on time.  Then plan for 45 mins after for my cardio.

My hiney still hurts…and thankful that today she worked my arms and lower back.  Not feeling it yet…but have a feeling tomorrow I will.

I didn’t get to do cardio this morning because we finished at 8:15 and I had to be at work by 9:15…so maybe this afternoon…AFTER a nap.   Supposed to go back to the ministry meeting tonight…a lady is going to be there that is related to an Evangelist named Maria Woodworth-Etter who started preaching in the 1800’s.   She preached, as a woman, at a time when women couldn’t even vote.

There is a book that tells all about her life (my first spiritual mom gave it to me) and God used it powerfully in my life so I am interested to go and hear what this relative has to say tonight…maybe God has something just for me.

My food was better yesterday…but we did have to stop and get fast food on the way to the meeting.  Asked for mustard for my grilled chicken sandwich…and they gave me a greasy honey mustard too…still need to look up the calories on it.   I also got fries, since I knew I’d be there for a long time…not the best choice…but it has been a while.

Well…hope you have a healthy day full of good choices, sweat and fufilling time with families and friends!

It’s almost midnight…and I gotta train at 7:30am…and then go to work all day!

Then back to church…

But…it is all good!  Just wondering how I will feel tomorrow when the alarm goes off?  And I am so sore…I hope she will give my butt (literally) a rest…and work on a different part of me!   My food was much better today…

The meeting I went to tonight was a preacher you can see on TV(won’t say who)…he is visiting for the next two days.  He has been in ministry for over 30 years and God uses him to really touch people.   I saw him before, someone with his ministry invited me to see him before I got married and was on the 5th row…right in front of him.  We also got to arrive in a special bus…and come through the stage door to our seats.  When I went that time, I felt the Holy Spirit so strong, and my hands were burning the whole time.  Tonight we were just part of the crowd…and I was tired.

It is a blessing to see so many hungry for God.  To experience Him…and know Him more.

I held a baby for a mom that was sitting close to us.  She looked so tired…and extra hungry.  As I held him…I thought of all the babies out there somewhere with no mommy or daddy to hold them tonight, babies that are hungry with no place to lay their heads…sent out a special prayer for them.   And told God I had a dream that God will let me help them one day…some how.

Been dreaming about starting my own business…and think God is encouraging me to do that.  I have been a portrait artist and a portrait photographer…so thinking about doing both…but waiting for God to make it clear.  Getting “signs”.

First one…a longing…then people started calling me and asking me to photograph an event for them.  Lately it is Anne Geddes.  Went to the bookstore and her book was there…it jumped out at me.  Then, on vacation, when I got on the treadmill…there she was again…with Martha Stewart…talking about how peaceful it was to photograph babies.  Then…a woman I used to work with (I didn’t remember her) came into the Cultural art building where I work sometimes and told me how I was so nice to her when she did a workstudy and was nervous as a student…but I had totally befriended her.  Well…turns out, she is a portrait photographer…so we have been talking.  She said she thinks I am ready to do it…she saw some of my work.  Then a dear buddy here has offered to build me a website…so I can begin to show my work.   Today, went to a local photographer’s website and just looked…and got excited.

It looks like something is in the works…but I will take it one step at a time and trust God to lead me!

Well…this was supposed to be a short blog…but sometimes stuff just comes up and out!

Have a great day…

I might be back on in the daytime…but I will see…since I will be at work.

I have missed so many blogs today!!!!!

Ate too much…and bad stuff too

Hubby and I went to the mall tonight.  Got some new running shoes.  Regularly $109…but on sale for $49.00….Does everyone love a bargain like me????

They are so cool…look kinda like tractors on the bottoms…they are called “Bounce” by Adidas…and they are super comfy…they even reach my arches.(I have very high ones they told me tonight.)

So while we are at the mall…we decide to get cinnabon…my husband’s favorite…I wasn’t interested in them…but somehow I ended up eating 1/2 one.

Then for a quick orange julius…but the machine was down…so we got ice cream instead?…I don’t even want to look up the cals…and def not the fat.

So next it was to the movie…where we got popcorn.   We were eating it, and hubby said, “Didn’t you get the butter?”

“No”…so he goes and has butter put on it.

I ate a little more…it was disgustingly greasy.

So that was my dinner…but it was different than I have been eating.  More junk in one day than my tummy cared for.  Getting ready to add it up…and face the calories.  Not sure how it happened…I guess it was just one bad decision after another.

We went to see Narnia 2.  It was not as good as the book…but there were some parts I liked.  I liked the mouse getting his tail healed at the end.  And when Aslan was talking to Lucy and said something like, “Even though they didn’t believe you, why did you let that stop you from coming to Me?”

Oh yeah…and when Lucy did finally see him and fell into his fur…that was cool.

My husband finished the book “The Shack” today.  I kept falling asleep so I just told him to finish it without me.  He said it was really good at the end…so I am going to try and get it finished tonight.

I have to work tomorrow and then we are going to a church event.  So I won’t be on hardly at all.  I was out all night so I missed everyone’s blogs.  Hope all is well…and remember…God created each of you with a special purpose in mind!  And He loves each and everyone of you!

I think I survived…won’t know until tomorrow:)

So today was day one of the personal training adventure.  There was a little snafoo at the beginning.  I had sent her an email saying I couldn’t train on Friday, cause I was called into work…and she had misread the email…and thought I wasn’t coming today.  She was working out when I got there.   I had to wait for her to get changed to train with me…that put us behind 10 mins…but she stopped on time at 11:30 (making a mental note of it).  She owes me 10 mins…

On Friday, the only time I can train is 7:30 AM, cause I gotta be at work at 9:00am (and have plans already afterwards)…so I am going to attempt to make it!  Told her I am NOT a morning person…she said, “we can all make excuses, can’t we?”  I said…yep…but I am telling you the truth…I am not a morning person…seriously…not an excuse…just the truth.

Went well…lots of leg and butt work.  No upper body at all…  Squatting, lunging, stepping…more squatting, lunging and stepping…you get the idea.  She doesn’t like to use machines…   Afterwards I was chatting with her and my butt started cramping up…THAT is a new thing.  But overall it was good.   She said I will hurt tomorrow and the next day.

She sent me to do cardio afterwards for only 20 mins…interval and on 2 separate machines.

AND that was it.   I was joking with her afterwards and said, “You made me sweat.”  One of her trainers heard me and just started laughing…he thought that was too funny.

The thought is coming…is it worth it?  All that mulah…but…I am committed for one month, and then I will see from there.

She is training for her first 1/2 marathon…but IS doing her first 5k next month…(someone had mentioned that she should have done one before if she is a trainer.)

She asked me if I had eaten before I came…and I had.  She said if I felt faint, saw spots…then my blood sugar was low–and I was about to pass out.  I would need to eat before I come…simple sugars.  (are you reading this Dawn?)

Anyway…all is good, the rest of the day is mine.  I am going to relax…it is raining outside, flash flood warnings…remnants of Fay…so I might grab a book and finish it…still working on the Shack…almost done!

Have a great day!

after work I had a quickie…(a quick workout…what were you thinking???:)

After work tonight I scooted over to the gym and got a quickie in.  It was cool…I mean…seriously cool…I found a machine under a fan…and I hardly sweated at all.  I felt like I was cheating or something…it seemed easier.  So now I have a favorite machine.  I really think this is becoming a lifestyle change for me…I WANTED to workout…wow…big change!

Tomorrow I will get my butt kicked…by my new trainer.   Nervous…curious…excited…fearful…just hoping I won’t cry!  AND that I will be able to walk the next day!

Thinking today, isn’t it interesting we pay for so much that others used to HAVE to live with?…water used to be drawn from a well…and now we buy spring water, bottled…we used to eat home grown foods…but today we are paying extra for organic whole foods.  And now I am paying for someone to make me work hard…instead of having to work hard to exist.  Times have changed!

I hope tomorrow goes well…I found this article…in my research about trainers…and when you should consider getting one…maybe it will help someone!  Have a Wonderful Weightloss Wednesday…weally!!!

1. You’re Not Seeing ResultsIf you’ve been exercising consistently for several weeks or months and aren’t seeing the changes you’d like, hiring a trainer may be a good choice. A trainer can look at your current program and eating habits and help you see where you could make changes to create more effective workouts. A trainer can also help you determine if the goals you’ve set are realistic for you.

2. You Don’t Know Where to StartKnowing how to set up a balanced schedule that includes all the activities you need to do can be confusing. The great thing about a trainer is that he can help you maximize your time while helping you stay within your own limits so you don’t overdo it. He can also help you set goals and map out a specific schedule so you know when, how and where you’ll fit in your workouts.

3. You’re Bored with the Same Old WorkoutsIf you’re an experienced exerciser, maybe you haven’t considered working with a trainer. But it can be a great choice if you need some variety in your workouts. A trainer can bring a fresh perspecitve and new ideas to challenge both your body and your mind. Even if you just do a few sessions or meet every few weeks, you’ll find it refreshing to have new workouts and new exercise toys to play with.

4. You Need to Be ChallengedIf you’re like me, you tend to slack off on your workouts sometimes, especially when things get tough. A trainer can motivate you to push past those self-imposed limits, encouraging you to lift heavier, go longer and challenge yourself more than you would on your own. You’ll find it’s very hard to slack off with a trainer standing over you, telling you to do just…one…more…rep!

5. You Want to Learn How to Exercise on your OwnEven if your goal is to create your own workouts and exercise by yourself, hiring a trainer for a few sessions can be a great benefit for learning the right way to exercise. This is especially true if you want to learn more about the muscles in your body, the exercises that target those muscles and how to do those exercises with great form. Just a few sessions can teach you a lot about your body and how it works.

6. You Need Accountability and MotivationTrainers come with built-in motivation. Not only are you investing money into your exercise program…you’re investing time as well. There’s nothing like a standing appointment to get your butt in gear for a workout. Not only that, a trainer provides some accountability so, even when you don’t have a session, you know your trainer will be asking if you did your planned workouts. Just knowing that may make it harder to skip your workouts.

7. You Have a Specific Illness, Injury or ConditionIf you have any specific issues like arthritis, heart disease, old injuries, etc., working with an experienced trainer (who works with your doctor, of course) can help you find a program to help heal injuries and avoid any further problems. It’s also a great idea to work with a trainer if you’re pregnant and want a safe, effective workout to keep you healthy and fit. Just make sure your trainer has experience with your issues!

8. You’re Training for a Sport or EventIf you’re training for a marathon, a golf tournament or some other type of sport or event, an experienced trainer can help you figure out what you need to do to stay strong without taking away from your other training. She can also help create a training program and map out a plan for the coming event. Just make sure she’s experienced in the sport you’re training for since not all trainers do sport-specific training.

9. You Want Supervision and Support During WorkoutsSome people know how to exercise and they even know how to do the exercises correctly, but they like having a trainer around for support and supervision. If you’re lifting very heavy weights or need someone to help with partner-type exercises, working with a trainer might be a good choice for you. He can spot you during workouts and help you come up with a good training plan for your goals.

10. You Want to Workout at HomeIf you’d like to exercise at home but either don’t have a lot of equipment or aren’t sure how to use what you have, in-home personal training is an excellent choice. A trainer can show you exactly how to use what you have to get the best workout for you or she can bring equipment with her to give you a great workout. She can also make recommendations for equipment that will help you reach your goals.

the weight of the world

Ever been through so much…you felt like the weight of the world was on you?

This week I have read a couple of blogs that made my heart heavy.  Buddies with so much to carry…such a heavy load.  People REALLY going through so much pain and suffering.  Having to keep the faith as they face the impossible.

I just feel so helpless…and heavy with love for these dear buddies!  What can I  say or do to make any kind of difference?

I got together with a sister here on the site and we began to seek God…on behalf of one of these dear ones…and the Lord met us.  In our reaching out to love on someone else, God met us there!  We connected even though we are states apart.  In the Spirit, there is no time or space.  We both marveled at that…His good pleasure.

It was amazing…to feel His presence…and His love over an instant messaging program.

God is so real, and He inhabits the praises of His people.  He says where two or more are gathered, there I am in their midst.  He just loves it when we get together to pray!  It blesses Him…to see us love others…like Jesus loves us.  The Word says that Jesus lives to make intercession for us.  That basically means, He lives to pray for us.   That is love!

I started to blog about eating soup and spaghetti squash, but now it just seems so trivial to talk about what I ate, or how fast I ran when I know so many are hurting and suffering.  I know this is a weight loss site, but right now…I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders, because people I care about are going through some very hard things.  I am going to go and lose some weight…by giving it all to the One that I know can handle it.

Remember to keep it all in perspective.  We are blessed beyond measure…

I survived my first day with the personal trainer…

Mostly cause all we did was put our schedule together and talk a little!  Oh yeah, and take care of the business end of it.  Wednesday will be my first REAL start day!

I told my  trainer what I’d been doing and she said, “All that is going to change, I am going to completely redo your whole cardio routine.”

WHAT?   You mean you are going to make me do stuff I don’t want to?  But I really like the treadmill.

Yep…that is why your scale stopped moving.   You gotta trust me.

Oh no!  I have never been good at trusting anyone!   Kindov an independent thinking type…oh my…better start praying more now.   Does anyone know that song…The Potter’s Hand…thinking of this part:

Make me, mold me, use me, fill me
I give myself to the Potter’s Hand
Mold me, guide me, lead me, walk beside me
I give my life to the Potter’s hand

Photobucket

After we were done…I went ahead and worked out anyway Today was my interval day, and drumroll please….

I ran 7.6 mph…still only for a short time…but I did it!  And it wasn’t as hard as I thought it might be!  Woop Woop!!!!  What I do is I start at 3 then got to 4.5 then back to 3.6, then up to 5.6 then down to 4….well you get the idea…and I just keep intensifying the workout…until I am really going at it!   I can honestly say I was running!!!  Wow!

…and then it was off to the the stair machine…for 15 mins…I did 28 flights.  I know that is not that great…but I am just starting on it…

I AM feeling better, especially after the work out.  Still cramping and my head is hurting…but I will survive!

I am making an appointment with Mohammed to get my hair even lighter…this time hubby is coming along.

Yikes…big changes!  Ok…blessings and for today, embrace change, it is good!
